About the Area

Many people perceive Iowa as being a state with nothing more to offer than farming. While farming is a huge part of our state's contribution to the rest of the world's food supply. You don't have to be a farmer to live, work and enjoy the lifestyle that so many of us Iowans enjoy.

I was born and raised in Iowa, as were my parents and their parents.  I have crossed the state east to west and north to south many times and am never disappointed in what every community in Iowa has to offer. Iowa is full of friendly citizens, wonderful restaurants and parks. Our schools are wonderful, in fact many families that I've help relocate to the area were very impressed with the school system.

Cedar Rapids is a city that is divided into 4 quadrants NE, NW, SE and SW. Each quadrant offers an aquatic center and multiple parks. The city is divided north and south by 1st Ave and east and west by the Cedar River. There are two shopping malls and multiple other stores. The area also features 3 movie theatres including 2 multi-plex theatres and one hometown theatre. Check out movie times here.

If you like to golf the area offers seven public golf courses consisting of four city golf courses, three other public courses (St. Andrews, Airport National and Hunters Ridge) three private or semi-private country clubs (Cedar Rapids Country Club, Elmcrest Country Club and Indian Creek Country Club). Thirty minutes away the Amana Colonies is home to the Amana Colonies Golf Course an award winning golf course.

Just like most any other metropolitan community you will find many YMCA's, health clubs, bowling alleys and for summer time fun check out our three disc golf courses, bike, walking and hiking trails and  Volleys.

Downtown Cedar Rapids really does have a lot to offer despite the devastating flood of 2008. The area has multiple small interest groups joining hands in bringing life back to the area and they are doing a wonderful job! The Farmer's Market and Uptown Friday Nights are two popular summer time events. If you happen to be here in the summer - we invite you to come join in the fun. You won't be disappointed.

Are you more of a spectator? The area is home to a minor league baseball team. The Kernels play at Veterans Memorial Stadium that was opened in 2002 and right next door the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena is home to the Rough Riders, a Junior Hockey League.

Love the arts? On any given day you will find live music, shows and more. Check out What's happening in Cedar Rapids.

The Greater Cedar Rapids Area consists of Cedar Rapids, Marion, Hiawatha and Robins. All are wonderful communities that all have something special to offer to the area. We Welcome you to the area and hope you will call it home too!
